"Natural Internet" hearkens back to the enlightenment era, the industrial revolution, and the internet revolution, analyzing the direction of technology and its flow towards immersion, and calling back films like “The Matrix” and Jean Baudrillard's critical theories on the simulation and the simulacra.
Internationally recognized artist Ron Kustrup ties in the theme of tradition as he presents American culture evolving as the norms of industry and internet change over time.
The art of appropriation, while present, is used carefully throughout the installation as part of presenting animalistic instinct as the root cause of invention. Similar to how raw earth materials inevitably fall through the machine of industry, ending up orchestrated into a random piece of hardware like a telephone.
