What We Do at The KIND Institute

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.
— Pablo Picasso

It starts with a tight grimace. Tempers flaring, waterworks streaming, and tiny fists flying. There are few things as frustrating as a child throwing a tantrum.

But as ugly as this is, there is amazing about this sort of reaction. Behind all of the lack of composure is a fountain of raw emotion, tapped into a frantic display in response to whatever it is they think isn't fair.

It's this passion that reinforces our dedication at the KIND Institute. Founded by long-time educators in the Philadelphia School District Maria Pandolfi and Ron Kustrup, the pair saw all of this energy and emotion into motivation.  With so much to mold in these children focused on helping children develop into adults capable of not only expressing themselves through creative outlets.

We can show children just how successful they can be in creating unique and personal pieces of art, not only proving that they can channel their energy into learning about themselves, but navigate their emotions to drive them to be successful in life as well.

Learning a discipline is something we believe all children can benefit from. As we see art education programs cut all across the city in lieu of maintaining focus on stronger test scores to help diminishing budgets, KIND provides a helping hand through offering after school art education programs for children of all ages.
